the fig tree story

rich in character and heritage, the fig tree property has been in the devlin family for generations

The Fig Tree story is steeped in history and family tradition. The restaurant itself is set in a lovingly restored, historic Australian farmhouse, which has belonged to the Devlin family for generations. Overlooking 5 acres of bio-dynamic farmland, Julian Rocks and boasting unrivalled views of the iconic coastal town of Byron Bay, The Fig Tree property is truly unique.

Whilst the gorgeous herb gardens, stunning slate pool and modern landscaping all enrich the allure of this property, it is the 120 year old fig tree which holds pride of place, and which the family estate is named after.

Heather and Charly Devlin established The Fig Tree Restaurant in 1981, receiving numerous industry awards and setting the bench mark for quality restaurants on the Far North Coast. These days, it is son's Jules and Che who own and manage the business, bringing their tastes and tales from 8 years of world culinary travels, and over 20 years combined industry experience.

Menu choices at The Fig Tree include a la carte dining as well as a variety of function, banquet and set menus for your function, wedding or other catered event.

Accommodation on the Fig Tree property, in the form of a renovated 3 bedroom house, offers the perfect abode from which to explore the local area of Byron Bay.
